The film will scare you, shock you and even make you cringe to no limits. The film practically lays emphasis on 'minors breaking rules and then being punished', that's the plot of the film in eight simple words but what gets it more dramatic is when they realize how worse punishments can get. The film is at most times almost hard to watch, but there is decent emphasis on violence, corruption, physical, emotional and sexual abuse portrayed in the film, one can hate it but cannot ignore it.

I have seen many many so-called controversial flicks in my life. This movie was just bad. I couldn't even watch it all the way through. Besides being disgusting, the acting was terrible, except for the over-the-top campy performances by the women reading their monologues. A stupid slasher flick like "Last House On The Left" made me feel more empathy for its victims and created more of an awareness of "the evils in humanity" than this sloppy mess. It took me a while after purchasing this DVD to sit down and watch it because I was waiting for the most opportune moment. Everybody "warned" me that the movie would freak you out, gross you out and make you vomit due to the violence and sexually explicit footage. However, the movie was a dissapointment in every aspect. Call this film what you want, it is a masterpiece. Although the film contains several scenes with repugnant and disturbing imagery, it has a profound message and theme underlying it all. The problem with films of these nature is people tend to view them at mere face/entertainment value; yes, you are supposed to walk away from Salo disturbed, but you are also supposed to be thought-provoked. I have seen countless people compare this film to others such as Cannibal Holocaust, I Spit on Your Grave, ... Read More

This is a great movie to sit down with friends and watch how they react to the things said and done in this movie. I gave it only 4 stars cause it's more talk than action, and so half the movie is not so interesting as it could have been.
It was kind of hard to read the English Subtitles, cause they talk to fast, so had to constantly put the film in slow motion or pause and replay most of the film as I watched it.
If you like films like "Blood Sucking Freaks" then this is a ... Read More
